Clipper Blade Sharpening – Top Tips to a Sharper Clipper Blade
Clipper Blade Sharpening
I want to share with you top tips to a sharper clipper blade. As a pet groomer, you spend a lot of money on clipper blade sharpening. Here are 3 tips to a sharper blade.
1. The top tip to a sharper clipper blade is to find the right clipper blade sharpener. You want to find a sharpener who specializes in just sharpening & repairs for pet groomers. You want to find a sharpener who has worked as a mobile sharpener for pet groomers.
The reason you want this in your sharpener is that I have spent many years as a mobile sharpener. I have seen the frustration groomers go through when they have a general sharpener who doesn’t use the proper equipment to sharpen your clipper blades.
If you use a sharpener, who haven’t had first-hand experience working with groomers in their shop to see all the problems groomers face. Then you will get a clipper
blade that may or may not cut very long. There are many little things that a sharpener picks up to increase your clipper blades performance when they have seen
groomers in action with their clipper blades.
2. Top tip to a sharper clipper blade is to find a sharpener who uses the proper equipment to sharpen your blades.
You want to find a sharpener who uses a test plate, to make sure you have the proper hollow ground on your blades. Most clipper blade sharpeners eyeball your blades
to see if your blades are sharp, but have no idea if they have an even hollow ground across your clipper blade.
3. Top tip to a sharper clipper blade is to find a sharpener who uses the proper honing disk to sharpen your clipper blades. (Clipper blade sharpening)
The proper wheel to get your blades sharp is a honing wheel that only uses the outside 3.5” of the disk. If a sharpener uses any other type of wheel the clipper
blade will not get a consistent hollow ground on your blade.
Tip: The reason for this is that the honing wheel changes speed the wider the honing band used. You want the honing band to be not much wider than your clipper blade
so that you get a consistent honing speed.
These are the top tips for a sharper clipper blade you need to consider when you are needing your clipper blades sharpened.
So to get a sharper clipper blade you want a sharpener who specializes in clipper blades, who uses the right equipment & has had on-site experience to understand all
the problems a groomer faces with there clipper blades.
King Solomon the wisest man to ever live, tells us that if the clipper blade is dull, one must put forth more energy to get the job done. Wisdom tells us that if
